Cylinders on New Zealand Registered Ships – Periodic Testing and Filling The hazardous substances legislation differs from the previous dangerous goods rules which made special provision for cylinders on ships subject to a marine survey and approved by the maritime authorities. Those rules were incorporated in the compressed gases regulations but only for foreign registered ships. There have been some queries from New Zealand vessels and as an interim measure the “status quo” was maintained and this approach has been discussed with Maritime New Zealand. However, we would now like to establish the extent of the issue. We will seek advice from the marine surveyors but if you are finding cylinders being presented from New Zealand registered ships for test or filling that are not compliant could you advise bryan.watts@ermanz.govt.nz. |
